How Credits Work

Understanding ClearSERP's intelligent credit system and how credits are calculated for different operations

Credit Types

Monthly Credits

Credits included with your subscription that reset each billing period. These are used first.

Use-it-or-lose-it: Unused monthly credits don't carry over

Pack Credits

Additional credits you can purchase that never expire. Used after monthly credits are exhausted.

Never expire: Perfect for occasional large analyses

Analysis Credit Calculation

Smart Pricing Model

ClearSERP uses an intelligent "melting surcharge" system that makes larger analyses more cost-effective per keyword.

Credit Formula

For 1-50 keywords:
Credits = 3 × keywords + 27
For 51-500 keywords:
Gradually reducing surcharge (melting model)
For 500+ keywords:
Credits = keywords (1:1 ratio)

Example Credit Costs

Most efficient: 500+ keywords achieve 1:1 credit-to-keyword ratio

Research Credit Costs

Research operations use a simple fixed-cost model based on the result limit you choose:

100 results
5 credits
500 results
10 credits
1,000 results
25 credits
2,500 results

5,000 results
100 credits
10,000 results
Smart refunds: You only pay for the results you actually receive

Auto Research Credit Costs

Auto Research runs a full keyword discovery pipeline for you — seed expansion, competitor mining, live SERP checks, and AI grouping into an article plan. Each run is priced by depth:

500 credits
Quick
Fewer seed keywords and competitors. Good for a first look.
2,000 credits
Thorough
A wide sweep across seed keywords and competitors. Most people want this.
4,000 credits
Exhaustive
The widest sweep. For large topics with a lot of ground to cover.
You only pay for what the run actually fetches. The credit price is a maximum, charged up front and settled when the run finishes: if your niche has less ground to cover than the run's ceiling, the unspent portion comes back automatically. At least 20% of the price is retained on a completed run to cover planning and AI processing, and a run that fails or finds nothing is refunded in full.
A finished report can be redone two ways. Rebuilding the articles ("Redo articles") costs 200 / 600 / 1000 credits, and rewriting just the titles and meta descriptions costs 40 / 100 / 200 credits, for Quick / Thorough / Exhaustive runs. The title rewrite is free once per run. Both reuse the keywords already found, so they cost far less than a fresh run and you can iterate without re-fetching the data.
